Soft washers

Picture
These face washers were inspired by a gift from a friend. The anti microbial  and super absorbent properties of bamboo make it the perfect yarn for use in the bathroom. The simple double moss stitch pattern gives them a nice chunky texture.  To make them even more chunky knit with bamboo tape.
I knit them on short needles that are sold for children so I can knit when travelling.

You will need
1 50g (120m) bamboo yarn
 a pair of 4mm needles

Tension
There is no need to worry about the tension. If you prefer a tighter result, use smaller needles, adding 5 stitches for 3 mm needles.

Cast on 62 stitches and work 8 rows of plain knitting (garter stitch).
Pattern
Row 1     Knit 6 then  K1, P1 to last 6 stitches, Knit 6
Row 2     Same as row 1
Row 3     Knit 6 then P1, K1 to last 6 stitches, Knit 6
Row 4     Same as row 3

Continue until your work is almost a square.
Check by folding the left hand corner  (under the pointed end of the needle) up to meet the end with the nob on. The length of the bottom should be equal to the length of the side, except for the   rows of garter stitch.

Work  8 rows of plain knitting and cast off
Weave end threads back through knitting using a bodkin or crochet hook.
