Herbal toilet waters

Picture

These are simple extractions, usually into water used to tone the skin, as an air freshener, or to sprinkle over clothes before ironing.
They make a thoughtful give when presented in a pretty bottle.

Angelica aftershave

I handful of fresh angelica
4 handfuls of fresh rosemary
4 handfuls of fresh mint or peppermint
4 handfuls of fresh sage
A handful of  dried juniper berries
Witch hazel extract

Chop herbs roughly and place with berries into  a saucepan.
Cover with water and boil for five minutes.
Turn off heat and place lid on pot and leave till cool.
Strain through a coffee filter.
Measure the extraction and add one part witch hazel  to 3 parts of extraction.
Mix well, bottle and keep refrigerated.

Use as an aftershave or as a toner for oily skin.
Witchazel is available from the chemist.
